Instead, he simply said, “I’m so glad you made it today. I hope we see you again soon.”\n\nAnd I cried.\n\nBecause in that moment, I realized how rare it had been to feel wanted in the middle of the chaos.\n\n# When Community Doesn’t Feel Like Community\n\nAs both a professional working with neurodivergent children and a parent raising neurodivergent, trauma-impacted kids, I understood “big behaviours.”\n\nBut living it every day is different.\n\nWhat I didn’t expect was how isolating it would feel when the places that were supposed to offer support… didn’t. Not just around me—but within me.\n\n# Why Grace Changes Everything\nGrace isn’t just a comforting idea—it’s a practical foundation.\nWhen grace leads: - Children have space to regulate instead of escalate \n- Adults can respond calmly instead of react\n- We begin to assume the best instead of the worst of other people\n- Connection becomes possible, even in hard moments \n- Growth happens—on both sides \n\nThis doesn’t remove the challenges. But when grace is the foundation, it doesn’t become easy, it becomes easier.\n\n# Turning Experience Into Action\nYears later, I was asked to share my experience and knowledge in a parent support class that the church wanted to start.  \nWhat started as a reluctant “yes” to leading a parenting class has grown into something much more.\n\nToday, I support: - Parents navigating big, complex behaviours \n- Churches seeking to become more inclusive \n- Camp teams wanting to better support every child \n\nBy combining grace-centered principles with research-informed strategies, I equip communities with:\n- A 4-step framework for responding to big behaviours \n- Prevention and de-escalation tools  \n- Confidence to handle hard moments with calm and connection  \n\nThis work isn’t about perfection. It’s about making meaningful change possible.\n\n# The Belief That Drives This Work\n\nAt the heart of everything I do is this:\n\nEveryone deserves grace and inclusion, regardless of how difficult their journey is, because that is what Jesus offered us. \n\nNot just on the easy days.\n\nNot just when behaviour is calm.\n\nBut especially in the hardest moments.\n\nBecause those are the moments that define a community.\n\n# A New Way Forward\nFamilies like mine aren’t rare.\n\nThey’re often unseen.\n\nAnd communities don’t become more inclusive by accident—it takes intention, understanding, and a willingness to do things differently.  \nGrace has the power to transform not just individuals, but entire communities.\n\nI’ve lived it.
